Description

I took way to much time on this. But I'm actually very happy with this one?! I just couldn't stop myself. It's sad I couldn't figure out how to loop this properly though...

The morning light had woken Salem and Jespar up early. They had been reading about every single book Salem owned. This took so long that after a while, they both just fell asleep with a book in their paws. Salem made a startled sound when she suddenly noticed a strange Woolyne was leaning against her tail, which in return, made Jespar gasp out and immediately reach for his wand. When he noticed it was just Salem being, well, Salem, he greeted her good morning and stood up to grab some food.

They sat outside and ate their breakfast in silence. Salem had made them a omelette, and Jespar was in awe that the thing didn't burn up immediately and set Salem's whole wagon ablaze. Apparently she could cook better then he gave her credit for. Then Salem ended the silence: "So, in the book it said that the Arcanum is as old as time itself. Well, the legend says so. But! They have been around for as long as Woolynes can remember. Or write, for that matter." Salem was very curious about the Arcanum ever since Jespar brought them up, and after reading some books, she got even more curious.

"Well, you might be right about the Arcanum being there ever since Woolynes started writing those old books", he agreed. "But, what if they existed even BEFORE writing existed, and books were made?" This had Salem thinking hard. "Well, then it wouldn't be written in any book in the whole world... We could look everywhere and still not find the information we might be looking for" she said in a disappointed tone. Salem had been so sure she had a book in her shelf that would have all the answers, so this brought her back to nothing. Jespar noticed her disappointment and gave her a warm smile, "Salem, your books did give us some answers. There was something written in there, something most Woolynes might have overlooked."

Jespar stood up, and went inside the wagon to grab the book he was talking about. When he returned, he opened it up and showed the interesting part to Salem. "Look here", he said while pointing at some text underneath a map. Salem read the bit of text: "Nowadays, there still can be found traces of old ancient buildings that suggest that the Arcanum might be much older then scholars originally thought. The locations where the researchers found evidence of the Arcanum are also surprisingly far apart, which suggests that the Arcanum had a wide reach as well." On the map were places filled in with color, probably to point out the locations the book was talking about. Salem still didn't seem to get were Jespar was going with all this and gave him a questionable look. Jespar pointed a finger at one of the marked locations in the book. "Right here, when I was about 15 years old I stumbled upon some rubbish in the woods. Old crumbled stone pillars and such. It isn't pretty, not even recognizable, but I'm pretty sure there was a small bit of a building somewhere around here that was still a little intact, and it had some sort of text engraved in it. It looked ancient." Salem immediately seemed to get excited after hearing this. "we're going on an adventure!"

...

Jespar actually managed to find the place he talked about back. Not much was left of it, just some bits of crumbled stone that might have been something way back in the day. Jespar led Salem to a bigger stone that still had some shape to it and pointed at the scribbles on it. "Salem, can you make something of this?" The girl took a good long look at it, and tried her best to remember what she had read about ancient texts way back. "I think... It is about worshipping. But to whom is not very clear... Maybe one of the two gods? Or the queens?" She turned to Jespar, who seemed to have an idea about all this. "Salem, a very long time ago, there were no such things as queens. So, who would the Woolynes way back then have obeyed?" This made the smaller Woolyne think hard, then it hit her: "HA! The one who's the most powerful, of course! Like... The Arcanum, if they did exist back then, and were already very advanced at Lyss for their time." Jespar nodded. "No one really saw how powerful Lyss could be back then. It didn't earn you money, so most didn't care. And Andras wasn't as united as it is now, so if you wanted to learn forging, tough luck. School's to learn about Lyss didn't exist, and books weren't made then as well. So yeah, if the Arcanum was around at that time, they were a force similar to a god's to the Woolynes back then. That is, if they really did live back then, and from these texts, it might actually be possible. And that means that one day, the Arcanum was the most powerful force around Andras..."

Salem looked back at the pillar. "That really would be something... And it might explain their actions right now."

These moving illustrations of yours are lovely! Do you mind sharing with me what program you use to make them? (My instincts point towards After Effects but I'm not sure! Wanted to see!)
